We are happy that 60 staff members of the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation joined us in our trip to Stetten on 29 October 2014. Stetten is a village close to Vienna that is the home of Fossilienwelt Weinviertel. As Stetten used to be in a tropical coastal area (16.5 million years ago), many fossils can be found there. One spectacular find was the largest fossil oyster bed in the world, which is now presented to the public.
We would like to say a big thank you to Mathias Harzhauser from the Natural History Museum Vienna for giving us a special tour!
